What is your past experience with the DSU or with student life in general on campus?

When I first came to Dalhousie I lived in Gerard Hall. I didn’t really know many people here but living in residence, as well as playing as a rookie on the rugby team, helped me to meet new friends and really become a part of the Dal community.

What is your favourite place on campus and why?

This was a pretty tough question to answer! I’d have to say the Killiam Library Atrium – it’s really beautiful and well designed. Dalplex and the Sexton Campus Library are probably the two places I spend the most time at though.

Why are you running for the DSU?

I’m running to be your Student Senate Representative because I believe that I have the right combination of professional experience and dedication that is necessary for this position. I have plenty of experience working in professional environments listening to the needs of my clients, and creating solutions. My professional experience includes working as a member of a Systems Simulation team at CAE in Montreal, Quebec, and as product manager for an energy efficiency system in Berwick, Nova Scotia.  I would like to use this experience to serve the students of Dalhousie.

What’s your best memory from your time at Dal?

My best memory from my time at Dalhousie has to have been playing in the annual Dalhousie/Kings rugby game, back in 2011. I hadn’t really played a full game before and it was something I’d really been looking forward to for a long time. Even though it was a cold and fairly snowy day it still was very, very fun.

What would be your top three priorities if you got elected to this position?

If I were elected to be your Student Senate Representative, I would have three objectives.

                                                                1. Increase awareness of the Senate’s role in setting academic policy. I would try to actively inform students of the decisions being made by Senate committees whenever possible.

                                                                2. Be available to students.

                                                                3. Work with the other members of the University Senate to continue to make Dalhousie a better place to be.

                                                                Is it Gray-wood or Grah-wood?

                                                                Gray-wood. Who says Grah-wood anyway?
